Obama Got Punk'D

Oh man:
THAT WAS AWESOME!
You couldn't have made that up.
The Clinton's really are the MASTERS of the political arena. Zeke is impressed. An Zeke Likes Obama.

Ok. This morning all of the News Channels idiots report that Bill Clinton has "said" that his wife would "go along with whatever the Rules Committee decides today". The trap is set.

Obama's peeps walk in and naively offer up to seat the Florida Delegates in round 1. No arguement at all. He coulda made a stink but I think, HE thought Hill was gonna be reasonable.

Nope: Clinton's guy whines that it is an "outrage" and he is "shocked" that only 1/2 of the Delegates are seated blah blah blah.
Clinton wins 18 or whatever more Delegates in Florida then Obama, even though the Rules clearly state she should get none, and she STILL claims she was slighted. And PEOPLE BELIEVE IT! Wow. That is some politicker right there.

Oh and it got better! Round 2. Then Michigan was discussed. The State who's Democratic Party went out of it's way to screw with the Early Window Rule (Moving ahead of Nevada even), The DNC voted to give those retards 1/2 their Delegates too, and none to Obama officially yet, mind you.

Quite the Coup for Hill, as Michigan's Democrats initiated the early move and only Hill was on the ballot.(Obama shoulda KNOWN when she didn't take her name off she would do something like this)

The Clinton folks immediately reacted. Happy they got ANY Delegates and Obama got None? In a State that everyone agreed was off limits and wouldn't count?

Nope.
They started screaming and carrying on about how even though they got away with breaking the rules twice and getting much better than any Nevada District Judge woulda given them, they were "appalled" by the decision.

Oh yeah; and they are gonna appeal to the Credentials Committee in Denver anyway. As they always had planned.

They tricked Obama into not challenging Florida, or really even Michigan, gaining Delegates, while maintaining the idea that she is being treated unfair.

Amazing job. If you were wondering why people always said the Clinton's were "the best political operatives they ever saw", here is the proof.

Obama got Punk'd GOOD today.

McCain's Wide Stance

Baseball Guy For City Council

Zeke pays attention. Really.
I try at least, but it is tough sometimes.

I realized today that I know MORE about the local goofy baseball team then what goes on in my City Government.

Ya know, no matter how cool your baseball team is, it really is just entertainment after all. So why do I know the Reno Silver Sox have a new Manager, but have NO IDEA what my City Council is up to.

Oh, I understand that Baseball is a money making business, but seriously I have signed up for every City of Reno email and Newsletter I can find, and attended every meeting I find out about, but I still feel like I gotta pry every piece of information out of them. Zeke has made the effort. It sure seems like they want to operate at City Hall with as few people watching as possible. I feel like Richard Dreyfus in "Close Encounters of the Third Kind". Know what I mean? Sure you do.

I mean, shouldn't a Councilperson return calls, or respond to emails? That is their job right? Serve the People? Maybe I just expect too much.My PO says I am "Difficult" sometimes.

But then again, maybe we should just replace the Reno City Council and Mayor with the Reno Silver Sox Management and Marketing departments? They sure seem to know what they are doing over there at the ball park.

And at least we'd get a fireworks show once a month.
And if they don't "work out" we could send them down to the minor league: Fernley, for players to be named later.

85% Nothing

Look I know both you Hill Crew and Obama Folks wanna see the Michigan and Florida Delegate Deal figured out.

I Know.

You are also under the impression that on Saturday the DNC's Rules Committee will resolve the issue.

I am sorry (Actually I love it) to be the bearer of bad news, but the Rules Committee ain't doin' nothing on Saturday. They may talk about it or have a press release, but in the end they are going to PASS the BUCK to the Credentials Committee.

Why?

Because they can.

If you were on the Rules Committee would you wanna make THAT decision?
Hell No. Not even Zeke wants a piece of that.

I give it an 85% chance that NOTHING is resolved on Saturday.
ZEKE SAYS SO.

Reno City Council Freaks Out

Zeke knows that sometimes his opinions are crazy. I got hit on the head alot as a kid. (And as an Adult)

However, it really seemed very familiar when the Reno City Council decided to "put off" their vote on the Spring Mountain Development Project Zoning vote. LINK
Kinda reminded me of the State GOP Convention last month. When the Council saw that they were gonna hafta face a 100 angry anti-growth protesters, they, uhhh, ran "out of time" and wanted to "get some more answers" and had to hold off their vote for a bit. Or maybe that is just what I think I saw.

But just in case they really wanna push the Plan through:
Hey Growth Crazy Council Members! Here are some suggestions for possible dates and times to redo the vote so that no one notices

  • July 4th at 9pm when the fireworks are going off.
  • Any day during Hot August Nights(All non crazy Renoites leave town)
  • The Day after the Big Earthquake hits Reno(will be soon)
  • Any day there is a Blackout this summer from our crappy power grid
  • During the Democratic National Convention.
  • Yesterday(just report you had made the vote already)

Good luck! I know you will be able to railroad it through! Our city sure could use another 5,000+ houses on the market right now. GREAT job watching out for the Citizens interests!

When is the election(grumble grumble)

Montana Rules the Earth?

Make no mistake, pal-The Western States, including Nevada are going to be where all the fun will be this November. Not Ohio. Not New Jersey. Not even Florida.
Read This from my Buddy over at Electoral-vote.com.

Obama picked up a couple more supers yesterday. An interesting pattern is starting to emerge. This hasn't been discussed anywhere else, but it seems unlikely to be an accident. If we take the average of the six news sources below, Obama has about 1975 delegates at the moment. He'll probably win about 24 in Puerto Rico, as discussed Monday, bringing his total to 1999. This means he needs 27 more delegates to reach 2026. Montana should be good for about nine, making that 2007. We'll look at South Dakota in a few days, but suppose it is good for eight, making it 2015. It would be very symbolic if Obama was put over the 2026 number by the voters rather than the supers. All it would take is another dozen supers to announce they are for him between now and Tuesday, about two a day, similar to the current rate. So look for Obama to be around 2010 to 2020 Tuesday morning so the voters of Montana and South Dakota can propel him to victory. He could then claim victory in Montana, a surprisingly Democratic state. The governor (Brian Schweitzer) and both senators (Max Baucus and Jon Tester) are Democrats and the Democrats control the state Senate and are two seats shy of controlling the state House. Being put over the top by the voters in a Western state that the Democrats do well in at the state level would get the pundits all excited. Of course, if the DNC's Rules and Bylaws Committee seats Florida and Michigan in anything other than a 50-50 split, the arithmetic changes and Obama might have to release more supers Monday to let the voters put him over the top Tuesday.Source: Elector-vote.com

5 Questions For Johnny McSame's Reno Town Hall Tomorrow

  1. Since you have had so many Lobbyists on your Staff, is your bus the "Straight Talk to Lobbyist Express" now?

  2. If your "International Storage Facility" plan falls apart, will you again want to store Radio-active waste in Nevada?

  3. Do you know that as one of 2 dozen Senators to vote against the new GI Bill, you are in a very special group of Current Elected Officials that can truly claim to NOT support the troops?

  4. How do you expect to win Women's vote with your publically stated plan to overturn Roe v Wade, and outlaw abortion?

  5. After coming in 3rd in our Caucus and seeming to only visit Nevada to fundraise for out of state causes, why should any Republicans in Nevada vote for you?
I DARE YOU
to ask him these

Dick TP

Zeke doesn't know many people who like Dick Cheney. Liberals and Progressives hate him. Libertarians hate him. Many Conservatives have turned against him lately. Even Zeke's Pit Bull Deathfang growls at him now when he is speaking lying on TV.

So I was thinking: this may be the safest gift you could give. Ever. To anyone.
It is sure to be loved by the "Getter" and is one of those gifts that is also practical. I'd use it with pride. Often.
Zeke's birthday is October 31st, by the way.

Are you Conservative but hate John McCain?

You have an Alternative: The newly Nominated Libertarian Candidate from Denver's Convention: Bob Barr
Robert Laurence "Bob" Barr, Jr. an attorney and
former member of the
United States House of Representatives Barr represented Georgia's 7th congressional district as a Republican from 1995 to 2003. He attained national prominence as one of the leaders of the impeachment of President Bill Clinton. Barr is the Libertarian Party nominee for President of the United States in the 2008 election. Barr joined the Libertarian Party in 2006, and as of 2008 serves on its National Committee.
Source: Wikipedia

MORE:

Barr is not your standard libertarian. He opposes abortion, whereas most libertarians say it is none of the government's business if you want an abortion. He also opposes same-sex marriage, but opposes a constitutional amendment forbidding it on the grounds this is something for the states to decide. He also opposes the federal income tax and wants to abolish the IRS. Source: Elector-vote.com

RON PAUL PEOPLE: Why waste yor vote on McCain when you can pick a guy much closer to your Libertarian views? If ya ain't coming over to Obama and can't stand McCain, this may be your boy. Well, old boy as it were.

Nevada, believe it or not, only has slightly less then 6,000 Libertarians (NV SoS Site), although Zeke bets Barr does pretty well in NV, based on how well Paul did recently in the caucus(2nd) and State Convention(1st sort of).

Why Hillary (Eventially) Lost Nevada

Straight off, Zeke throws mad props to the HillMeister. AND her Nevada Staff. I know they were 100% committed and busted their asses. Also Zeke is a huge Hill fan: she is smart, she is wise and she woulda beat any Democrat, including her now goofy husband in the race to be Prez.

The Problem is, she went up against Barack Obama. He is a better candidate. No Question. Now you Hillary people: Do not hate Zeke. I am a Hillary fan, but ignoring facts is what the Republicans do. Zeke is many things, but I ain't no Damned Republican. Here are the Facts as I see'em.

Hillary lost in Nevada for 4 reasons.

1. Her paid staff was all wrong for this cycle.
Rory Reid and Pam DuPre are long time solid Democratic operatives, Hill snatched them up right away last year when the season began, a good move. Bully for her. Too bad the flavor of the "Party loyal" was blowing "Change". Obama grabbed people like Rachel Sigman: Much fresher, hipper and more in touch with the grassroots of the Party that was swelling nationwide. You ain't gonna get groundswell from anyone who has been the "establishment" for 6 years. Just Zeke's opinion. I like them both, but that is how it is. Sorry.

2. The Clinton Team was too cocky in Nevada.
Opening the campaign HQ RIGHT NEXT to the Washoe County Democratic HQ may have seemed smart, but it came across as arrogant to many of the WCDP volunteers and the headaches the "lost dropins" had on the Volunteers at the HQ didn't make anyone happy. The Clinton team also rarely provided any info to the County Dem HQ about Hill event details: quite a problem since hundreds of people called for that info.
Rule #523 Don't Piss Off the County Party Volunteers.
The Obama, Richardson, Edwards and Biden reps were more friendly and outgoing than anyone from the Hill Crew, you got the feeling when they talked at events and meetings that they were tight with everyone in the room. Extremely assumptive of them. Since Obama won Washoe County 50% to 40%, compared against her Statewide Caucus win, Zeke wasn't the only one that felt that vibe.

3. Clinton Blew Town after the Caucus and never really came back. At both the County and State Convention it really seemed like the Hill Team was a week behind the Obama crew in preparing and it really showed in the results. Although Hillary held her delagates % at the Washoe Convention. she gained almost no Edwards people, and she finally paid the negligence fee at the State Convention, losing a PLEO Delegate.

4. Alright I'm gonna say it. The Clinton Crew encouraged (reportedly) their teams to cheat mess with the Rules at the Caucus. That "Close the doors at 11:30am" crap was fully on purpose. They told their supporters to be there early, and knew any late comers would be Obama people. They knew the correct rules, but they told their Precinct Captains to do it anyway.
Democrats are big fans of "Fair and Square" and I know for a fact that the crap that went on at the Caucus kinda pissed off otherwise loyal Clinton supporters. It pissed me off. The Hill Crew TOLD their supporters to show up early an try and plaster the walls with signs, although they knew it was against the rules. They TOLD them to stick signs in the ground outside at the schools although they knew it was against the rules. One Hillary person in Washoe even tried to call in later and change the Precinct Results after they had been reported to favor Hillary!(It didn't work)

Zeke submits that this stuff was a HUGE BUZZ KILL for Hillary Democrats that were smart enough to know what schenanigans look like.

Zeke knows 2 people at my Caucus who switched to Obama for these reasons alone. "If she is going to act like W, I ain't gonna support her no mo'".

Hillary: Zeke Loves You. It didn't have to be like this.

Your Nevada Teams' program may have won the Caucus. but it lost the Hearts and Minds of the Party Faithful. So you lost Nevada in the end.

Heller Hates Sunshine, Too

Zeke is scratching his head.
Heller is so out of touch, he floats.

Our Congressman Dean "90% Bushie" Heller voted this week to reject moving tax breaks from Oil Companies to Solar and Renewable Energy sources. READ MORE
Now Zeke ain't no expert on Tax Law, but I believe that a big reason behind giving tax credits to an industry is to encourage it's growth.
So, I guess Dean "Coal Plant" Heller doesn't really want the Renewable Energy Industry to grow, or even get started. Even though HIS DISTRICT has the largest and most successful Geothermal program in the USA. Even though Nevada has PLENTY OF SPACE and PLENTY OF SUNSHINE for solar projects. And even though no one will argue that oil reserves WILL RUN OUT at some point, Dean "I (heart) Texaco" Heller would rather give TAX BREAKS TO OIL COMPANIES along with 160 other Brainiacs in the House(most from oil-land TX and OK).

Heller says that stopping the tax breaks to the Oilys will cause pump prices to go up. Well, from what Zeke has seen, lately EVERYTHING makes pump prices go up! Hurricanes, war, refinery fires, the stock market, cold weather, hot weather, summer driving season, blah blah blah.

Ya know what makes prices go down? LESS DEMAND. (Zeke heard some professor dude say that once). If we remove some of the demand for oil by getting power from somewhere else, the price should go down.

Zeke thought Republicans were supposed to be good at this economic crap. I guess they are really just good at helping their buddies at the oil companies get even richer.

Nevada Caucus Popular Vote Total

Ok Zeke has crunched the numbers to get a Popular Vote total for Nevava's Caucus. If ya break down each Precinct in the State(Yes the attendence at each Precinct IS available) and split the turnout number by number of Delegates won in THAT Precinct. Because Washoe County had about DOUBLE the turnout of Clark County(Vegas), and was much more Obama friendly, these numbers are different than reported by MSNBC and CNN. Imagine that: The Media is wrong again.
Anyway, here is what you get:

Nevada Caucus Popular Vote
Hillary Clinton 59,307 Caucusers
Barack Obama 53,585 Caucusers
John Edwards 4,702 Caucusers

Now keep in mind there is gonna be a bunch of error in these numbers, but I figure when averaged over 1,700+ Precinct meetings it ain't that far off because it will average out.

Also these numbers are after the 2nd alignment, so many of the other candidates had voters initially but were made to switch to a viable candidate-one of these 3 people.

The State party MAY have the paper back up copies from the precinct "worksheets" but since many of them are missing (God Damned Clark County!) the numbers would ultimately be a guess no better than this estimate.

MSNBC you can use these numbers towards the national popular vote total, but Obama people it doesn't really help your effort does it? Yes Hillary did win the popular vote in Nevada at the Caucus.
I imagine this could be worked out in the other 3 Caucus States.
If you want a copy of the Nevada State turnout spreadsheet, contact me and I will send it to you.

Sharron Angle's Energy Plan Ain't One

Zeke loves this stuff. Here is what newly announced Senate Candidate Sharron Angle has on her web page about the energy crisis:

ENERGY POLICY - Rapid increases in gas prices must be addressed with short-term efforts that bring immediate relief, and long-term energy policy changes that reduce America’s dependence on Middle East oil. In the Legislature, I led efforts to reduce our state’s high gas tax, which is the second highest in the nation. As a long-term policy, America must expand its own domestic energy supplies, including the expansion of our oil refining capacity here in Nevada. We must develop domestic oil sources so we are not dependent on foreign countries for commodities that are essential for our economic security.

Source Sharron Angles Webpage

The Problem Zeke has with this statement is Angle's "Plan" doesn't do ANYTHING to provide for finding MORE or NEW TYPES of energy. Zeke needs demands details. "Open new refinery's in Nevada"?
WHAT? WHY? How will THAT help?
Cut $.52/gallon State tax off the price? Gas has gone up $2.48/gallon since 2002. On top of that, the tax pays to build our roads. You want roads, right? Zeke like roads.

I am surprised that she doesn't mention the usual "Overbearing Environmental Restrictions" and "Closed off Drilling Areas" like ANWR that most Conservatives (and Fat cat Oil company Dudes)point to as possible solutions.

What Zeke also doesn't understand is why the Ron Paul People don't jump into Green Energy? The industry is not some Hippie thing anymore, and actually might be able REDUCE OUR DEPENDENCE ON FOREIGN OIL while growing the economy and creating real jobs that can't be outsourced to China. Seems reasonable to Zeke.

Yeah, Sharron's Energy "Plan" is just a "tax cut" plan. Time for her to rethink and examine the issue for real, along with the rest of you candidates who don't have a real plan for this critical issue. Zeke will be looking into YOUR program too, very soon. Cutting taxes ain't the answer for everything. Unless you own an oil company or your PAC is funded by one. Hello.

Derby Therapy

Erin Neff, from the LVRJ made an interesting comment today in her column. She suggested that many "not yet over it" Clinton people may be jumping up to help with the Dina Titus campaign.
Makes sense.

Of course in Reno and CD2 we have Jill Derby trying to run off Dean "Call me Mr." Heller, America's Worst Congressman.

Whatdaya think people?
From what Zeke has seen most Clinton people are crying in a beer right now, or pissed as hell and starting to walk away. Maybe that anger and despair could be used to do some really good: Elect Jill Derby.

The best part is, most Nevada Clinton campaign activists know the ropes and have a great networking list. It'd be a huge waste to let that talent float away. Also, since 2/3rds of CD2 is Washoe and the Rural Counties, the impact of these new volunteers could be staggering to Heller and his Evil band of GOP Bush Clones.

Just a thought. It might work. And it sure would be more fun then getting back into scrap booking.

5 Stages for Nevada Clinton Mourners

Zeke likes Hillary. She is smart, tough and likable. She would have beat any other Democrat in the US(and did), except for Obama. If a couple things had played out differently, she would have beat him, too. No Question.

But she lost and her supporters have rolled into the Grief Process. If you are a Clinton Griever, see if you can tell where you fit in the process.

  1. Denial

  2. Anger

  3. Bargaining

  4. Depression

  5. Acceptance

It appeared to Zeke that Nevada Clintoners are in all different stages. It is hard to argue that Denial had been the most popular stage among Conventioneers last weekend. Clinton had literally hundreds and hundreds of no-show Delegates and Alternates(They have moved past this stage and know it is over). If you are getting mad by reading that statement, then you are also in this stage.

Anger is also a big one right now. Although Obama has tried to run a respectable campaign: in the future it will be viewed as civil. There was no "Kitchen Sink phase" on his side after all. However many Clinton supporters are very angry at Obama and his people. READ THIS for Christ sakes. It makes no sense, unless you recognize it as a step in the grief process. Get it out, Blue Lyon. We need you.

Zeke thinks many Clinton True Believers also think that if they yell loudly, wear lots of buttons and speak out for her, they might still be a way for her to win. By using math that includes 2 unrecognized elections, counting popular votes instead of Delegates, arguing about "Electability" and even using a report by Karl Rove, Clinton folks think that if they "Never Give up" they will still win: Bargaining.

Depression is also clearly evident among nearly all of the Clinton people. The weak turnout at the Convention included a huge number of Clinton people THAT HAD ALREADY PAID but didn't show up. Nearly every Clinton Blogger and most supports Zeke talked to felt the Convention was boring and sad. Consider this: Is a Football game a "Great Game" if your team loses? It probably depends on how much you really care. Clinton Conventioneers care a lot: Big Depression.

Acceptance is the last stage to eventially show up. ALL Democrats hope the Clinton people get to this stage quicklike. Some people I met at the Convention said they would switch to Obama, but those people were not the ones with Clinton clothing or tattoos-they were not that committed or bought in. Zeke hopes the Clinton people can get here by the end of the summer. Zeke really doesn't like John McCain. At all.

Who is Getting Rolled Out on Wednesday?

OK. You know the drill:

Obama wins Oregon 55%-45% Delegates 29-23.
Clinton wins Kentucky 65%-35% Delegates 33-18.
It will happen that way. ZEKE SAYS SO.

So Clinton will net 9 or so Delegates for the day. Yeah! Confetti and Fleetwood Mac all around!

But Wait! Zeke is starting to figure this crap out. Obama has not been announcing many new Super D's for a while. I bet that Wednesday, he will drop a BIG NAME or a HUGE list to try and knock Hillary's win out off the Evening news, just like last week with the Johnny E deal.

Zeke bets it's a nice round number of Super D's like 50.
Although it could be a name like:

  • Al Gore
  • Harry Reid
  • Howard Dean(hey it could happen!)
  • Bill Clinton(ha ha)
  • Zeke(Don't laugh, punk.)

Or maybe even:

  • The Ghost of Reagan
  • Santa Claus
  • DB Cooper
  • Rush Limbaugh

Either way, expect the announcement: 50 new Super D's for O or one of those cats listed above.

My time guess will be 1pm Nevada time. Right before the news guys finish the scripts in NYC, but not too before that, so the talking heads figure out how they are being Punked.

You heard it here first. Chris Mathews stop ripping off my ideas, you red faced blowhard.

AD32 - Wanna Bet?

Since last Friday was the official last filing day for the August Nevada Primary, Zeke took a look around to see who was running.

Since AD32 has 5, count'em 5 Republicans duking it out for the seat, I thought I'd start a little line on the outcome. Ya know, gambling!
For recreational purposes only, of course. Kids, gambling is Evil.

I'll be posting items about this race as it gets going and keep the Zeke-Line updated on the right sidebar.

You can also throw your vote down on the poll, if ya want.

Conventioneer Identification Guide

Zeke talks to everybody, and sometimes even listens back.
I heard and have seen posted many "judgements" about this weekend's Nevada State Democratic Party Convention.

If ya didn't go, and are having the event described to you, here is a easy guide to identify who is talking to you, if ya don't know them already.

Clinton Delegate:
"It was boring and depressing"

Obama Delgate:
"It was AWESOME and inspirational"

Clark County Convention Survivor:
"It was super organized"

Washoe or Rural County Convention Survior:
"It was CHAOS! Ahhhhhhh! RUN AWAY!"

Secret Republican in Attendence:
"The NVDP is falling apart and the Convention was a disaster. Oh yeah; Jill Derby sucks."

Zeke:
"I heard it was interesting, but there was a bar at the pool."

Baby Boomer(or older) Clinton Supporter
"Who was that Obama Surrogate Actor Guy?"

Old Time Party Animal:
"Who is the hell are of these people?! Back in 1968 blah blah blah"

Loser of a District Level Delegate Election:
"The Insider won. It's rigged as usual"

Winner of a Delgate spot:
"You all LOVE me! You REALLY LOVE ME! Where's the bar? I'm gettin' Drunk(er)!"

State Democratic Party Leader:
"The infighting is good for the Party"

Any Nevada Newspaper Writer:
"The infighting is destroying the Democratic Party."

And lastly:

Non Attending Nevada Republican:
"The GOP Convention collapsed and the Dem's didn't? Oh Shit. Uhhhhhh. How do I switch to register as a Non-Partisan?"

O Won 14-11 at Dem State Con-ZEKE SAID SO

Hey, I ain't bragging. I'm just sayin that Zeke foretold the out come of yesterday's Democratic State Convention victory in Reno, nearly 3 weeks ago, with Obama picking up a PLEO by gaining 50%+1 margin. SEE?

Funny how Zeke hadn't seen any other blogs or even FLASHes which covered this topic before hand. Kinda makes you wonder if ANYBODY who covers politics on the web in the area know what the hell they are talking about? Maybe it just is more fun to NOT know what could happen. Or maybe Zeke is lucky: I sure ain't smart.

It is also pretty damn funny that SO MUCH trouble went to that process, with election after election for delegates. Delegate registration drama. Alternate Delegate squabbles between campaigns. Yelling and crying. All for an outcome that was nearly impossible to change.

Damn funny, if ya asked Zeke.

You didn't ask, but ZEKE still SAID SO.

Plan B?

Ok this is just for the Democrats out there. You others go watch "24" or "Die Harder" or something.

I know it seems hard to imagine, but GOD FORBID, John "Smelly" McCain somehow beats Obama this fall, I was thinking about the back up plan.

The idiots of our Country who barely follow politics (not like you and me, right?) know that the Congress is basically unable to get stuff past Bush's (or McCain's) Veto without a 2/3's majority in the House and Senate. We need 290 in the House and 67 in the Senate.

Whatdaya say we work on that AND getting Obama in the White House?
There ain't much we can do about Nevada Senator Ensign for a bit(2012), but we do have 2 Bushie Representitives here in NV- and of course one is elected by us Renoites: Dean "I Hate Children" Heller.

If we can get these two bozo's out of Congress and into "consulting" this fall and 55 more GOPers across the USA, we can have a "Veto Proof" House, and actually untie the Congress from the Will of a Crazy President.

I mean it sounds more productive than just sitting on the couch eating Dorito's and watching MSNBC. Or Replaying Obama speech reruns on Youtube. Or emailing your Obama friends and complaining about how unfair the media is. Or Blogging. Hi there.

Just a thought.
Plan B. Think about it.

Ask the DCCC to Step Up for Jill Derby

Zeke thanks Brother Texex for pointing out that Jill Derby is not currently being supported by the DCCC. If ya want, send them a note HERE and ask them to get off they Butts and help us out here in CD2. Heller is on the ropes already, but let's make it automatic.

3 fer 3? Dean Heller: Start Panicing Buddy

And yes. It happened again. A third Republican has lost an election in a Republican favorable Congressional District to a Democrat. Keep in mind that NV CD2, is not anywhere near as "Red" as any of these other Districts.
What does this mean? Pretty clearly, pretty boy "Jimmy" Dean Heller is in BIG trouble in the upcoming election against Jill Derby this November.
Here are the facts:

Democrat Travis Childers (CHILL-ders), a court official in Prentiss county, beat Republican Greg Davis, mayor of Southaven, in a runoff election for House district MS-01 by a margin of 53% to 47% yesterday. The seat, which is R+10, became free when Gov. Haley Barbour appointed its occupant, Roger Wicker, to the Senate to fill the vacancy created when Sen. Trent Lott (R-MS) resigned. This is the third stright loss for the GOP in a contested heavily Republican district this year. On March 8, scientist Bill Foster (D) defeated businessman Jim Oberweis (R) in IL-14 an R+5 district in the Chicago suburbs. On May 3, Louisian state legislator Don Cazayoux defeated former representative and newspaper publisher Woody Jenkin in R+7 LA-06. And now MS-01. All three races saw the national parties heavily involved. Both the NRCC and the DCCC spent upwards of $1 million on these races and outside groups, such as the conservative Freedom's Watch, poured in hundreds of thousands of dollars.
The MS-01 loss is especially painful to the GOP for three reasons. First, the Republicans tried very, very hard here, pouring in huge amounts of money and having Gov. Haley Barbour and Vice President Dick Cheney campaign for Davis. Second, in IL-14 and LA-06 they could argue they had flawed candidates. That doesn't hold here. Greg Davis is a popular mayor who has done a good job and has never been involved in any scandals. Third, this election was the second field test of the Republicans' November strategy, which they rolled out against Cazayoux and refined here. They ran ads bitterly attacking Childers as a close associate and fellow traveler of Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi. They called him a LIBERAL (them's fightin' words in Mississippi). They said he didn't represent Mississippi values. They tried everything. It didn't work.
At this point NRCC chairman Tom Cole (R-OK) is probably sweating bullets. He has hardly any money left and the only arrow in his quiver is calling Democrats tax-and-spend liberals. If that doesn't work in R+7 districts (LA-06) and R+10 districts (MS-01) what's going to happen in swing districts like AZ-01, FL-15, IL-11, IL-18, MN-03, NJ-07, NY-29, OH-15, OH-16, VA-01, and VA-11, all of which are Republican-held open seats that are R+5 or less?
The implication of LA-06 and MS-01 is that tying a Democratic House candidate to Obama (the Republicans assume he will be the nominee; they don't even mention Clinton) doesn't seem to hurt, not even in overwhelmingly Republican districts in the deep South. It certainly isn't going to hurt in New Jersey and Minnesota. And Obama may have de facto coattails by getting many young voters to register and vote this year, and most of these will vote a straight Democratic ticket.

Call it, Ref. It's Over.

Zeke has actually been to West Virginia, you know.
And ANYTHING that the people of that State think is right-DO THE OPPOSITE. Their State Motto is "We Fail at Everything". It's on their License Plates. Seriously. They make Utah look civilized.

So OF COURSE Clinton will win there today. Not that it matters, because it is now clear that at long last THE RACE is really over. But yet it continues. Like your old car that keeps sputtering after you pull the key.

Some of the boys down at the bar think Hill is staying in it just to screw up Obama so that she can win in 2012. Of course the boys who think that, are retarded.

Most of the dames in the bar, however, are still pulling for Hill and don't wanna hear any arguments that she is done. They stick their fingers in their ears and sing some Fleetwood Mac song or something. It is pathetic actually.

I've taken to just sitting at the end of the bar (just me and the Delaware Destroyers) and staying out of it. I've seen this before.
It's called denial. It's a natural part of grief and it sucks. But Clinton and her supporters have to go through it. It is how our monkey brains are wired. Hopefully they get it over quick and move through the Anger, Bargaining and Depression, and start on the Acceptance stage before too long.

I've heard lots of nasty things lately, some from Nevada Clinton Bloggers-clearly they scooted over to the ANGER phase. Look at THIS for Christ Sake. You'd think Obama stole her bike.

I think it is best if those of us who weren't fully on the Clinton squad, just stay down here at the end of the bar until the cloth tearing ends. It may take a while. Better order a double.

I guess since most of the Republican Candidates don't seem to care about their failed elections, they are missing out on the grief process completely. I guess that is an upside to not having a soul.

How to Get 4 Million New Democrats

Stay with me. This is going to sound crazy, but you're probably a Liberal: you have an Open Mind, right? Well, open it up for a minute or two.

What if I told you that the Democratic Party could add 4 million NEW Democrats to the fold by making 1 change in policy? And not even a policy that has ever been on our National Platform, or even something that most Democrats ever think about?

You'd at least "think about it", right?

OK. Listen to this: The National Rifle Association has over 4 million members and many more supporters that put their belief in their right to bear arms, high on the list of issues they care about. In fact many of them are single issue voters on this point.

The GOP will NEVER change their pro-gun stance. They can't, and they have everything to lose if they do. In fact, they can't even budge a little.

The Democrats, on the other hand, only would need to have create a policy that would ease the minds of the Nation's gun owners to start reaping the benefits. If Obama started saying things like "Let the Supreme Court or the States decide". Or "I promise to Veto any Federial Gun Control Bill as your President". Compared to other Progressive issues, this is certainly a back burner to most Democrats, and frankly the Supreme Court is a month or two away from a ruling on a huge 2nd Amendement case anyway.

The Progressives are already holding ALL of the cards on this issue.

My point is, the Democrats could steal MILLIONS of voters from the GOP by taking an idea off the table, that has never really been on the table anyway. I have never seen a party platform relating to gun control on any level in the Democratic Party. If you ask a Gun Owner though, you would think all Democrats take an oath every morning to try and outlaw THEIR guns by nightfall.

The Dems have nothing to lose and everyting to gain, simply by saying "We will do nothing on this issue". By the way, McCain will be ALL over this topic if the Democrats let it lay where it is now. Ask those "Bitter" PA voters what THEY think about Anti-gun Obama right now: The Republicans, the Democrats and most importantly the Independents.

Wanna win PA, MI. IN and CO? How about NV or maybe AZ: 2 States full of scared "independent (and critical swing voting) gun owners? Then make a promise to worry about everything BUT gun control.

Just a thought. Told you it was crazy. The Zeke kind of crazy. Might actually work though.

OK, Close your mind back up. You're getting brains on my shoe.

Hey Dr. Gwaltney - Move West!

Ya know, Dr Gwaltney seems like a qualified guy. I hear he can be a bit of an ass, but so can you and me. Me most of the time. After throwing in his hat yesterday for the AD24 spot against Freshman Democrat Rockstar David Bobzien, I got me athinking.
Zeke might have even voted for the good Doctor, but Bobzien has done such a great job I don't see the point: the guy is all over the place, all the time and sure works hard for the silly pay he gets for the job. Also, with AD24 being a Democratic controlled District now with 3,200+ Democrat lead, I can't see how he hopes to win. Add a strong Dem turnout from the ticket top this fall, and the super Organized Dems in the District and I see this whole campaign as a waste of Gwaltney's time and energy. I'm sure the money comes from the Party. I hope he ain't spending HIS money on this losing campaign.

On that idea, maybe this is part of the "Run a Candidate against every Democrat" deal that Evil NV GOP Chair Sue Lowden was spouting off about 2 weeks ago. If they were really serious about the Good Doctor's campaign, why would they sneak it in like Bush Press Release on a Friday? Where are the balloons and funny hats? Do they want no one to know? Interesting.

Anyway, Zeke thinks Dr. Gwaltney should actually move West out to AD26 and run off Nevada's Worst Assemblymen Ty Cobb. On top of being one of the most inefficient Assemblyman in Nevada history, Cobb also has managed to piss off most voters in the District with his abrasive, Zekelike, behavior. Google him to see what I mean-The guy is freaking famous for being an idiot. A rabid groundhog would be a better leader then Cobb.

Go WEST, old Doctorman!
I hear you can buy a house in Verdi for like $50 these days.

A Corrupt Maverick

If you Liked Bush, you will LOVE Johnny Rotten McCain!

Zeke really enjoys meeting people that claim they are going to vote for McLame this fall. It will be GREAT FUN to watch their Corrupt Candidate lose in the biggest landslide since the 80's.
I bet the GOP Overlords are still planning how to hamstring this turkey, and nominate someone more appealing.
If you don't know about this little story read up now people.

The Keating Five

The Keating Five were five United States Senators, who
were accused of corruption in
1989, igniting a major political scandal as part of
the larger
Savings and Loan crisis of
the late 1980s and early 1990s. The five senators,
Alan Cranston
(
D-CA), Dennis
DeConcini
(D-AZ), John Glenn (D-OH), John McCain (R-AZ), Donald W. Riegle
(
D-MI), were accused of
improperly aiding
Charles
H. Keating, Jr.
, chairman of the failed Lincoln Savings and Loan Association, which was the target of an investigation by the Federal Home Loan Bank Board.
After a lengthy investigation, the
Senate Ethics Committee
determined in
1991 that Alan Cranston, Dennis
DeConcini
, and Donald Riegle had
substantially and improperly interfered with the FHLBB in its investigation of
Lincoln Savings, while
John
Glenn
and John McCain had been only
minimally involved. The Committee recommended
censure for Cranston and
criticized the other four for "questionable conduct."
All five of the
senators involved served out their
terms, but only Glenn and
McCain ran for re-election (and were subsequently
re-elected).

Nevada Democrats Now Rule the Earth

In case ya haven't seen the stats from the Secretary of State office from April, the Nevada Democratic Party now has a 50k+ lead in registered Democrats over the GOP in Nevada. In 2006, the GOP had lead with 15,000. Can you smell the fear from the Right?

Of course this is probably just part of Rush Limbaugh's Chaos Plan. See, the Dems get lulled into thinking they have a sizeable lead and then November 4th WAMMO! Nevada goes Red again for Johnny Rotton from Zonerland.

Seriously, CD2 Democrats did pick up about a 1,000 voters over the GOP efforts, but are still pretty far behind in the District. Luckily, Dean Heller has demonstraighted so well how useless he is as a Congressman, Jill Derby should have no trouble beating his butt this time. She has already made up that difference from her 2006 loss.

Nevada Super Delegates: Listen Up

Just a though for you 3 unpledgeed Super D's here in Nevada. A little unsolicited free advise from a nobody in Reno.

Harry Reid, I feel for you brother. It will be tough to come out for either one as you will need to be working with the loser for years to come. Also, as the Big Chief your vote carries the weight of ten ordinary Delegates. Zeke's thought for you: Sir, is you live in Nevada. A State FULL of Conservatives. Your re-election will be much easier if we as as nation, have had a chance to calm down from the crazy Partisanship of the past 10 years. One candidate will bring that. You know who. Also, there are massive numbers of activists in this State supporting that same person. Wouldn't it be GREAT if they found out you support their candidate? It would be EASY to enlist their help in 2010. Pick the wrong person and you might as well retire.

Sam Lieberman. As the Chair of the NV Democratic Party, you also have to make a tough call. Either way you will get grief. The easy way out will be to pick the person who wins either the largest numbr of State Delegates at the State Con, or sends the most National Delegates. That may wind up being the same person. However if not, consider this: One candidate currently has a massive and very loyal following in the State, that could EASILY be brought into the fold as DUES PAYING State Party Activists. Wanna grow the Party? Pick the right person.

Catherine Cortez Masto. There is that idea that older, blue collar woman will vote for McCain if the their person is not the nominee. I got 4 words for you: MCCAIN IS PRO-LIFE. That voter segment is the absolute backbone of the Democratc Party nationally and here in Nevada. They can't hold a grudge. Trust Zeke. I know dames. And like with Reid, you want to be seen as a person who helped the person who has the most activists in Nevada. Also, unlike Harry, you won't have to see the loser in the Congress anytime soon. If I were you, the State Convention would be a GREAT time to announce your choice. Just a thought.

Yvonne Gates. You don't live in Nevada. No one knows where you are and no one thinks you will show in Denver. Do what ever the hell you want. Maybe you should let Zeke fill in for you? I would be a great superdelegate. Really. I have a loud voice and I let people know what I think. Loudly.

Dean Heller : Wanna Throw Down, Sucker?

Some people just don't know how to pick fights.

For those of you that don't hang out in some of Reno's "Finer Downtown Drinking Establishments" down on 4th Street, you may not understand this: When some little smart ass shoots off his mouth and wants to "take it outside", you should be suspecious. Either he is a black belt, packing some heat or has about 3 other dudes out there waiting for you. To beat you up. He has a reason. After the 3rd time, I stopped falling for it.

So when Dean Heller, our worthless Congressmen, sends outDean BAD BOY Heller an email announcing he is introducing a Bill that would require all Ballots in the US to us English Only, Zeke smirks.

CLEARLY Disco Dean is trying to define Derby as a "Pro-Illegal Immigrant" candidate while taking the discussion away from his HORRIBLE record in Congress these past 2 years.

Even though Zeke doesn't really understand why this is an issue to Democrats, as it is a requirement that prospective Citizens learn English no matter WHERE they arrive from, I expcet it may include some silly rationalization that minorities are less likely to vote if it isn't in their language and that would hurt the "Big Tent" Dems. I wonder if it's just something they hear others say, so they go along with it.

Obviously Heller is using the Bill as a code to his "Base" of chickens*** alarmist, White, Rural voters who will bite on his Hook of Fear.

Of course Derby and the Progressive community doesn't have to automatically oppose his idea, or even mention it. At all.

If you ask me, this Bill is just another example of what Heller thinks he was elected to do, and shows how out of touch he is with us and our problems. His bills so far are "English Only, Pork for Reno's Train Trench and Stronger Dog Fighting laws.

HEY DEAN! HOW ABOUT...
Education? Nope.
Healthcare? Nope.
War in Iraq? Nope.
Credit Problem? Nope.
Housing Crisis? Nope.
Dean Heller is lost in the woods. Should we send Derby out with a Posse to find him?

So you REALLY might Vote McLame?

OK. You can vote for who ever the Hell you want. Go ahead!

However since SO MANY Americans disapprove of Bush, it is surprising that anyone, and I mean anyone, might consider giving him a 3rd term through McCain.

Take this FUN QUIZ and see what you know about Johnny Rotten.

So nothing changed last night?

Even though Indiana was a tie and Obama blew out North Carolina, the Hill Machine keeps on rolling...down... the...hill.

Funny how the Media had been pretending that THIS was the "Do or Die" Day.

I guess they were just trying to get us to watch. Again.

Indiana and North Carolina are Places on the Map

Zeke said last week that these races have really not changed in a month or more: A tie for Delegates in Indiana and a near double digit win for Obama in NC.
Zeke STILL stands by this

One thing that needs to be said, and none of the Democrats seem to think is happening, is that Republicans ARE showing up to vote for Clinton. In a sence, proping her up.
The Dems are ignoring the 600 pound (and pill popping) gorilla in the room, Rush Limbaugh. I hate him too.

How will this cross over affect the 2 Primaries? Well, with Indiana allowing ANYONE to vote in the Dem Primary today, the Dittoheads impact will be felt strongers than in NC where it only Dems and Independants can vote. Since Limbaugn hadn't told his retarded listeners a month ago to re-register as Dems, I doubt they did in NC. Those people have issues with Free Thinking.

Here are the Zeke numbers for today:
Indiana: Clinton: 52% Obaama 48%
NC: Clinton: 46% Obama: 54% Zeke: 1 vote
(My buddy Elrod lives there and is writing me in)

Oh yeah. The race will be going on til June no matter what happens today.

I missed something

Ok. We as a Country wanna get rid of our "Oil Addiction", right?

I do remember even hearing President Oil say that.

So WHY would we want to make gas cheaper?

When we want people to quit smoking, we tax the crap out of them, right?

I think if high priced gas makes us smarter about our driving habits, and maybe even think about buying a smaller car, maybe just maybe it will LESSEN demand and lower the price. (Ha ha-That was a good one Zeke! Like the Oil Companies will EVER lower gas prices.)

Of course here in Reno, it snows like 4 or 5 times a year so I can't go getting rid of my ride(see hot Pic). But everyone else should.
Since McCain has already explained that he has very little understanding of economic theory like supply and demand, I'll give him a hall pass on this one. I believe McCain was born before the invention of the automobile anyway.

However Clinton must have big truck like me (I have 3) and need the tax break herself. It's all I can figure. But then again, Zeke didn't go to Yale like Clinton.

She has to have a good reason to wanna do this, right? It CAN'T just be she thinks we'd all vote for her because she offers a backwards idea she stole from a Republican, and has zero chance of getting signed by W?

Man, if I thought she thought I was that dumb, I'd sure feel insulted.

Hillary, please don't insult Zeke.

Harry Goes Daily

Why Derby is a Lock in CD2

I know you all love her and most people think she did a great job as the Chair of the NV Dems for the past year, but I got a REAL reason she is going to win.

I mean other than Zeke Says So. Which is a great reason.

In Louisanna on Saturday, what will be a highly discussed election took place. Short story: a Dem beat a Republican in a solid GOP district. He shouldn't have won, but he did.

It's pretty clear: the GOP is in Big Trouble selling there "Liberial, Tax and spend" routine. It is what they used last time, but certainly ain't gonna work up here again.

Also, although Derby is facing an uphill battle in funding, her opponant, Dean Heller, is considered the WORST Congressman in the Capitol bar none. On top of that, the Washoe Dems have registered voters to be within the 6,000 margin she lost by in 2006, and are growing it every day.
Zeke is Happy.

What is more the fight in CD3 is getting all the Press, so it looks like, for now, we can start counting the days till Dean can retire to what ever he was doing before he was screwing up Nevada Politics.

Here is some reading on the LA election.

"In LA-06, centered around Baton Rouge, state representative Don Cazayoux (D) defeated former state representative and local newspaper publisher Woody Jenkins (R) in a special election to fill the seat vacated by Richard Baker (R), who resigned from the House to become a lobbyist. Cazayou got 49% of the vote to Jenkins' 46% in a race with major national implications. LA-06 is a heavily Republican district with a PVI of R+7 that has been in Republican hands for 33 years. President Bush got 59% of the vote here in 2004.
Both the DCCC and NRCC advertised heavily here. The NRCC referred to Don Cazayoux (a Cajun name) as "Don Tax You" and claimed he is a "liberal," which is a big insult in rural Lousiana. They also tried to tie him to boogeyman Barack Obama and boogeywoman Nancy Pelosi. The whole nine yards. At this point, the Republicans assume Barack Obama will be the Democratic nominee and LA-06 was a
field test of their November strategy to paint him as a big-government, high-tax, arugula-eating, orange-juice-drinking, Ivy League, out-of-touch liberal. Only it didn't work, even in a very conservative area. The next field test is scheduled for May 13, when Travis Childers (D) dukes it out with Greg Davis (R) in a runoff for Sen. Roger Wicker's old seat in MS-01. "

Obama Wins Guam

Guam? Yes Guam. I can't wait to see how the media spins the tie in GUAM! Oh wait. Obama won, even though the Delegates were a split thingy.

The Guam caucuses added two pledged delegates apiece for Clinton and Obama. The vote for party chairman and vice chairman also added a superdelegate for Obama and subtracted one for Clinton because the outgoing vice chair had endorsed the New York senator.

Best quote of the article:

Clinton issued a statement Saturday night promising, "I will continue to champion the issues facing the people of Guam, and when I'm president I will ensure that hard-working families of Guam have the resources and the opportunity to succeed."
Both Quotes from: hosted.ap.org

Exactly WHAT are the "issues" of the Guamites?
Too much Rum in your Drink?
Weather too perfect?
Not enough Earthquakes?

Zeke hearby volunteers to go to Guam and fact find more issues so we'll be ready for November!

Wait. They don't vote in November, you say?
Damn!
How about Hawaii? I bet they have LOTS of issues there.
When do I leave?

Can Big O make it 14-11 in Nevada?

Ok look. The math scares everyone. Maybe that is why NONE of the media or bloggers have picked up on it. Stay with me on this as I lay it down.

National Delegates are awarded in Nevada basically through a couple “area” divisions.
Each Congressional District gives out some. In CD1 and CD3, both wholly in Clark County, the number up for grabs is 8 and 6. Even though Clinton won both Districts, she didn’t get the 61% and 64% she’d need to do any better then tying Obama. So Clark County, for all the crap you put us through, you don’t matter and made no difference. Sorry.

CD2, Heller Country, however is where most of the fun happens. CD2 elects 8 national delegates. 2 come from Clark County, and will be split 1/1. 1 more comes from all of the “Rural Counties” and will certainly go to Obama (Bet he is glad he went to Elko now huh?). 2 are At-Large for the whole District and will be split 1/1. And lastly 3 are voted on by Washoe County. Since Obama will easily win Washoe he gets 2 to Clinton’s 1 Delegate. So that makes it 12-10 Obama for those of you following so far.

Lastly the whole Convention will elect 3 PLEO(Pledged Leaders and Elected Officials) Delegates based on the proportion of the room. The math, as done after the Caucus and County Conventions shows Clinton in the lead Statewide and winning 2 of the 3 making the widely reported number 13-12 for Obama.

BUT HOLD ON PEOPLE!

After the Caucus, Clinton had won 50.8% to 45.0% over Obama.
After the County Conventions however, the lead was 51.1% to 48.9%.

At the State Convention on May 17th, the difference between Clinton and Obama will be only 73 out of 3345 State Delegates. That is it. VERY close.

What this means is if Obama can take 37 State Delegates from Clinton, he can brag that he won the State’s Caucus/Convention outright, and also will switch that 1 PLEO Delegate over to his side, making the Final Delegate Score Obama 14-11.

Any questions?

Good.
I need a drink.
