One of the locals down at the bar showed me a mailer they got yesterday from the Bill Raggio Campaign.
Bill Raggio is a Republican, right?
I can't find anywhere on the double-sided cardboard Piece where it says "Republican" or "GOP". Did I miss a memo or something? Raggio is the Majority Leader of the Nevada Senate right? The Majority Party in the Nevada Senate, is the Republicans, right? (For now anyway)
My bet is that you don't forget something like that. It's been left off on purpose.
As to why the highest-ranking legislative Republican is no longer interested in calling himself a Republican, is a good question. Maybe the fact that after 25 plus years of loyal service to the State and his Party, he was nearly booted out by the crazy "no tax on anything crowd", who are the loudest part of the Republican base in Nevada.
Or maybe Raggio has simply decided that what may have once been a political party here in Nevada, is now nothing more than a shell of selfish, scared racists who are more ideologically representative of a Pirate Ship, then of honest, friendly, hard-working, community oriented Americans.
I hope it's that second thing. I like Bill.

I don't think Raggio has any real competition in the general so it is probably more just an image piece. And those usually leave off party identification.
ReplyDeleteIf anything, one could question why spend money you don't really need to instead of funneling it to the Beers and Heck campaigns.
Oh, and saying the entire state GOP party is "racist" is idiotic. It would be like calling the Democratic party all "communists" or, the new one, "terrorists". It's just stupid.
